Shown to Users? The Shown to Users field (Figure 480) determines if the New Property will be included in HTML generated by the system, including search result lists. Additionally, the selection of input methods (drop-downs, checkboxes, etc.) will also be used on the user registration and update pages, if you select Yes in the User Editable? field when adding a new property to Users. Is Inherited from Owning Object The Is Inherited from Owning Object field (Figure 482) allows you to set the inheritance for a property, thereby allowing you to control a field’s entry, based on whatever is entered in the “owning” object. Also see Defeat Inheritance. For example: A Tizra Publisher might want to change a system default setting for a particular Document property from “no” to “yes.” The first step would be to contact Tizra to set up a new controlling object. The newly created “owning” object can then be set to the desired value (in this example, “yes”) and the “child” property’s Is inherited from Owning Object field should be set to “yes.” Each time a new Document is created, the setting for the property would be set to “yes” (as that is the value being inherited from the “owning” object). For Documents and Excerpts, any property that has the same system Name on both the Document and the Excerpt, will automatically have the parent Document’s entry copied into the Excerpt’s matching field when the Excerpt is created. (Tag entries are automatically copied from Documents to Excerpts). Copied Excerpt entries can always be changed. If a Tizra Publisher needs more control than just having the matching Excerpt entries copied, the Is Inherited from Owning Object field can be set to “Yes” for the specific matching field on the Excerpt, assuring that any saved changes made to the Document, even after the Excerpts are created, will still be reflected in the Excerpt’s corresponding field.
