Defeat Inheritance The Defeat Inheritance box will display (Figure 483) if you set up a property to inherited its value from an owning object. When a “child’s” property value is inherited from the “owning” property value, the two fields are joined and any changes you make to the “owning” object will be reflected in the “child” object (upon saving the owning content). If you select the Defeat Inheritance box, the two fields will be separated and any changes you make to the “owning” property after defeating the inheritance will not be reflected in the “child” property. Note that if you manually change an inherited “child’s” property value, the Defeat Inheritance box will automatically be selected. Figure 483
