Are Values Limited Note: This field is used in conjunction with the Value Restrictions field. If you leave the default selection of No in the Are Values Limited field (Figure 478), then any value (according to the new property type) can be entered. Note: If you have values entered in the Value Restrictions field, leaving the Are Values Limited field set to No will allow adding of new values to the designated restricted values. If you select Yes in this Are Values Limited field, when data is entered into a New Property field, the values you’ve entered in the Value Restrictions field will be the only values that display for selection. Thus, the tag picker screen will not have the add tag button and drop-down menus for Single Keyword property types will not include the “Enter Value” option. If a new value is added, the system will allow it, but will warn that it is an “illegal value” in the administrative interface when the Content or User is saved. This ensures that enabling restrictions will not change or damage data, even if the restrictions are erroneous in some way. Selecting Yes in this field is most useful when you want predetermined values to display for selection in the Keyword List, Keyword Checklist, and Single Keyword fields. For example: If you had a “Single Keyword” new property type that had the Value Restrictions of “RI, CT, TX, and CA,” selecting Yes in the Are Values Limited? field would mean that RI, CT, TX and CA were the only values displayed for selection and no others could be added.
