Attachments (for Documents) The Document Attachments field (Figure 55) enables you to publish pretty much any kind of digital file, from videos to spreadsheets to eReader downloads. The files can be supplements to publications you've uploaded in PDF form, or they can be free-standing digital products in and of themselves. Figure 55 If you make Attachments visible, they display for your end users in the Attachments section of the sidebar menu in the online content reader. Attachments are access controlled by default. If you want to make an Attachment freely accessible, see the Free Attachments feature. When you click the + Add Resource(s) link in the Attachments field, the Add Resource dialog box opens (Figure 56). After you add the file or URL, click the Upload button to upload the file or URL to the Document. You will return to the Document Properties screen, where all the fields associated with the file or URL will display. See the details for Attachment and Free Attachment Fields. You can optionally create hyperlinks in PDFs to Attachment files using Adobe Acrobat. You may also want to have the links to your Attachment files on your web site, for example: in the Document’s Abstract field, or on the Document’s Table of Contents page, or even on an Access Denied page for the Document. In these cases, you would have to manually enter the link to the Attachment’s files (see Tech Tip, below). Tech Tip: If you are manually entering links to Attachment files, the format of an Attachment link starts with the URL for the Document and then looks like this (for example): http://YourSiteName.Tizra.com/DocName/~~Attachments/filename.ext Since all the document pages share a common prefix of: http://YourSiteName.Tizra.com/DocName/ You can just make a relative link of the form: ~~Attachments/filename.ext TT
