Generate Downloadable PDF? (Excerpt Property) In addition to page-at-a-time web viewing, the Tizra Publisher system allows you to provide Users with a PDF download of any section (or all) of a Document. The Generate Downloadable PDF? field, when set to Yes, allows your Users to download a PDF of any Excerpt. The Generate Downloadable PDF field (Figure 89) on the Excerpt Properties screen interacts with the Generate Downloadable PDF? field on the Document Properties screen. If the Generate Downloadable PDF? field on the Document Properties screen is left set to “No,” then when the Excerpt is created, the Generate Downloadable PDF? field on the Excerpt Properties screen will be set to “no” (although it can be changed for any Excerpt associated with the Document). If the Generate Downloadable PDF? field on the Document Properties screen is set to “yes,” then ALL Excerpts created will have the Generate Downloadable PDF? field on the Excerpt Properties screen set to “yes.” (Again, you can always change the setting to “no” for any Excerpt). Therefore, given this interaction, if you want ALL Excerpts associated with a Document to have downloadable PDFs, you should set the Generate Downloadable PDF? field on the Document Properties screen to “yes.” But, if you only want SOME Excerpts associated with a Document to have downloadable PDFs, you should leave the Generate Downloadable PDF? field on the Document Properties screen with the default setting of “no,” and then individually select those Excerpt(s) for which you wish to have the Generate Downloadable PDF field set to “yes.” User Tips: If you want an entire Document downloadable (not just individual Excerpts), create an Excerpt of the entire document. To do this, make the Excerpt a page range from 1 1,000 (or some other number that is greater than your estimated last page number for the Document) and then set the Generate Downloadable PDF field on the Excerpt Properties screen to “yes.” Also see: Creating a Downloadable PDF for an Entire Book in the Document’s Abstract Downloadable PDFs can have printed, personalized material at the bottom of each page -- Watermarks that discourage inappropriate distribution. Note: Depending on how your site’s Stylesheet is configured, an Adobe Acrobat PDF icon will display on the Document’s Table of Contents page on your web site (if you’ve elected to show the Table of Contents for the Document), next to any Excerpts you’ve made downloadable. The appearance of the Adobe Acrobat PDF icon next to a particular Table of Contents (TOC) entry is also determined by whatever Excerpt starts on the exact same page as is referenced by that TOC entry. So for example, if you want a Downloadable PDF icon to appear next to page 2 of a Document’s TOC, then the Excerpt you create must begin on page 2. See Figure 90. i !
