Save Button (on the PRESENTATION Library screen) Important Note: Before you click the Save button next to a design you’ve made changes to, your changes are already visible and reflected on your Staging (and Testing) sites. If you want to save the design that is currently on your Staging site under a name that already exists, you can use one of the Save buttons that appear on the Library screen (Figure 507). When you click Save next to the desired design name, the current state of your Staging site will be saved under that name. The design that was previously under that name will be renamed with a timestamp reflecting the time at which the save occurred and retained as a backup. Figure 507 For example: Assume you have a design called “Our Current Design” and it is applied to your Staging site. Assume that “Our Current Design” has black text. Using the PRESENTATION design tools, you change the text to red. At 1:00pm, you click the Save button next to “Our Current Design.” The current state of your Staging design -- “Our Current Design” with red text is saved under the name “Our Current Design.” The design that was previously under that name -- “Our Current Design” with the black text -- will be renamed with a timestamp reflecting the time at which the save occurred -- “Our Current Design (backup: Wed Jan 23 1:00:00 EST 2013)” -- and retained as a backup. Let’s continue this example and say you make an additional change to “Our Current Design” and add blue buttons to it. At 2:00pm you click the Save button next to “Our Current Design.” The current state of your Staging design “Our Current Design” with the red text AND the blue buttons is saved under the name “Our Current Design.” The design that was previously under that name -- “Our Current Design” with just the red text -- will be renamed with a timestamp reflecting the time at which the save occurred and -- “Our Current Design (backup: Wed Jan 23 2:00:00 EST 2013)” and will be retained as a backup. When you click the Save button next to a design, whether that design is 1. Applied to your Staging AND Live sites 2. JUST applied to your Staging site or 3. Is not applied to your Staging site at all, affects which design ends up being applied to your Staging site, and which design is applied to your Live site. Here you can link to the help documentation for the two most useful scenarios described above: 1. Clicking the Save Button Next to a Changed Design Applied to BOTH Staging & Live 2. Clicking the Save Button Next to a Changed Design Applied to JUST Staging Related (2 links) Best Practices for Working with Designs Clicking the Save Button Next to a Design that is NOT Applied Staging !
