Making Parts of a Book Available as Free Samples There are two ways you can make a part of a book (called an Excerpt) available as a free sample. If you do not want Users to have to register and log into your web site and you want to give Users unlimited access to an Excerpt, simply select Yes in the Make this Excerpt Free field on the Excerpt Properties screen. If you want to require that Users register and log in to your web site and only want to give them one-time access to an Excerpt, follow the steps below. Important Note: If you create a free Offer on an Excerpt, a BUY button will display next to the Excerpt's first page on the Document's Table of Contents page, even though the Offer is free, as a free Offer is still an Offer that requires an account and a claim, thus generating the BUY button. A free Offer is only different because the price is zero. A FREE button is displayed if you select “Yes” in the Make this Excerpt Free field on the Excerpt Properties screen (and skip the Offer) no account or claim process is required. If you wish to use Free Offers (as described below) for sampling your content, you can change the "Buy" button text to "Get Access”, for example. Note: The following steps assume that you have already created an Excerpt. See Splitting a Document Into Excerpts section for more information. 1.
