IP Address Ranges The IP Address Ranges field (Figure 323) allows you to enter IP address range(s) for the Institution so that authorized users within the organization's network don't have to log in to gain access to your web site. The simplest way to enter ranges is to use asterisks or hyphens. Examples follow. Example #1: If you want to include all the IP addresses between 171.66.236.0 and 171.66.236.255, you’d enter: 171.66.236.* Example #2: If you want to cover all the addresses between 171.66.0.0 and 171.66.255.255, you’d enter: 171.66.*.* Example #3: Hyphens are useful if you want to do narrower ranges. If you wanted to include the addresses between 171.66.236.8 and 171.66.236.14, you’d enter: 171.66.236.8-14 Figure 323 Tech Tip: If your Institutional Account Users provide you with IP Addresses that contain Netmasks (for example: 140.180.0.0/16), you can use an online tool to calculate what should be entered in the Tizra Publisher’s IP Address Range. The example illustrated below (Figure 324) uses an online IP address calculator found at http://jodies.de/ipcalc and is calculating the User-provided IP Address and Netmask: 204.153.48.0/22 TT
