CREATING A MODERN EBOOK PLATFORM Once the selection process was complete, Tizra’s deployment team swung into action, supporting ABC-CLIO in the full range of tasks required to go live with a customized and integrated publication portal. Services included… • Design implementation. Tizra’s web developers applied the sophisticated web design created by ABC-CLIO’s team, including its mobile responsive functionality. • Search customization. Tizra’s web developers took advantage of the platform’s new search APIs to build the intuitive and powerful faceted search and filtering tools required for navigation of ABC-CLIO’s thousands of titles. • Access control integration. Tizra developers worked with ABC-CLIO engineering to integrate the new ebook site with the powerful authentication web services ABC-CLIO already had in place. Based on the integration, Tizra now presents each user with personalized title listings and search functionality, reflecting the specific content they are entitled to access. • Content loading. To get the site up and running, Tizra batch- loaded metadata and content for thousands of titles from multiple sources in multiple formats. For ongoing updates, Tizra is preparing systems for import of ONIX data from ABC-CLIO’s distribution partner, Ingram CoreSource. • Training. Tizra’s onboarding team provided webinars and documentation to get ABC-CLIO’s staff fully proficient in Tizra’s content management and web design tools. One surprise that came out of the project was how easy the Tizra tools were to learn and how quickly ABC-CLIO staff came up to speed. “If I had it to do over, I would have had my own team start getting involved in the customization earlier in the process,” says Martin. The scale and complexity of the project was such that a hard work and collaboration was required on all sides, but the results were well worth it. “I’m very happy with where we ended up,” says Martin.
