Walkthough: Tizra Site Usage Reporting

Accessing these new capabilities is straightforward. See below, and to dive deeper into each capability, visit our full article.

  1. Navigate to the main REPORTING tab in your Tizra dashboard

  2. Select Tizra Site Activity Reporting

  3. Choose from:

    • Activity by Item
    • Activity by User
    • Raw Activity Log

Important Note: Please set report start dates to November 19, 2024 or later to ensure consistent data.

Activity by Item

The Activity by Item report answers what is probably the biggest question for most content providers: Which content is getting the most traffic? It does this by trackingโ€ฆ:

  • Access counts forย  the detail pages of specific content items
  • Reader page accesses within content items (consolidated into the item's total)
  • File downloads associated with content items (consolidated into the item's total). Technical Note: The count does not include downloads of files in the Free Attachments or PropSource areas, since those usually reflect views of pages containing preview images.

The result is a simple ranking of content items, with those generating the most engagement at the top. Want to track how members engage with specific content, like your latest technical standard or salary survey? The Activity by Item report lets you view access data alongside relevant properties, enabling more insight into which content pieces receive meaningful engagement. You can customize your reports with additional columns for metadata properties that matter to your organization (using the "List of item custom fields to add to log messages" property in SETTINGS > Advanced Site Properties).

Activity by User

The Activity by User report answers the other big question: Which of my users are most engaged with my content? Similar to the Activity by Item report, it provides a simple ranking, but in this case, itโ€™s individual users, including whatever information about each user has been entered in Tizra. This varies by configuration, but typically will include name, email address and any tags that have been applied.

Raw Activity Log

For deeper analysis needs, the new Raw Activity Log provides comprehensive data including:

  • Timestamped (UTC) records for all tracked access types (use the View-IDs guide below to identify the various types of accesses).
  • Complete user property information
  • A customizable list of content properties (set via the same Advanced Site Property used for the Activity by Item report described above).

Want to analyze detailed patterns in how members discover and use your content? The Raw Activity Logโ€™s records can show exactly how members move through your site - from search results to content detail pages to reader views - along with comprehensive user and content property data for deep analysis.

A Quick Guide to View-IDs

Hereโ€™s a cheat sheet explaining some of the values youโ€™re likely to see in the view-id column of the Raw Activity Log:

  • toc--When in a record with a named content item, these are views of the detail page for that item. When in a record without a named item and the meta-type "SiteDisplay," these are views of the homepage.
  • readerpage--Views of content (usually PDF) in the online readerย
  • pdfโ€“When in a record with PageRange as the content, indicates that the PDF of a portion of a document has been downloaded.ย
  • attachment/Attachments--Downloads of files associated with content items.
  • searchResults--Views of the search results page.
  • attachment/PropSource--These are no longer included in more recent reports because they were not particularly useful, but if you should encounter them in older reports they indicate views of preview images (e.g., publication cover images)

Tizra's enhanced site activity reporting capabilities focus on surfacing the absolutely โ€œmust-knowโ€ dataโ€”those vital signs that tell you which content is driving the highest levels of engagement and which users are most engaged.
