Protecting Against Bad Actors Without Spoiling It For Everyone

As a platform devoted to protecting and promoting content, we’re always thinking about how to strike exactly the right balance. How can we help protect against bad actors, while still giving you maximum freedom to showcase the amazing content that sets your organization apart?

We recently added two new options that address one of the vulnerabilities we are all subject to: human error. With traditional logins, all it takes is one employee picking a bad password and everything else you do may not matter.

So now, Tizra offers customers the same kind of protection you're already used to on banking and other high-security websites: Two-factor authentication (2FA), combined with password complexity requirements.

Once the features are turned on, site administrators will be walked through the process of setting up an authenticator app. These apps, which are free and readily available for iOS and Android mobile devices, provide an extra layer of protection by generating a temporary code that must be used along with your username and password to gain access. This approach is generally considered more secure than sending a code via SMS, which can be intercepted.

But how to make sure your team’s passwords are up to snuff? All of us have encountered systems that try to do this through rules that are both maddeningly picky and yet also unclear. We tried to keep it simple with options to require that passwords be of a certain length, in which case any combination of letters, numbers, and characters is ok. Or if a shorter password is preferred, it must contain at least some uppercase, some lowercase, and some numbers.

Both 2FA and password complexity options are available now for all Tizra customers at no additional cost. Just drop us a note and we’ll be happy to walk you through the details.
