Ministry Matters Builds a Deeper Connection with its Community

WHO THEY ARE
Ministry Matters is the flagship online publication of the United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH), one of the oldest and largest faith-based publishers in the United States. The site serves a broad, ecumenical audience of congregational leaders, both clergy and laity, providing timely articles, worship resources, and professional development tools on a weekly basis.

WHY TIZRA
The original Ministry Matters platform, built over a decade ago, was struggling to keep up. Its search capabilities were limited, it couldn't support diverse media formats, and its subscription model wasn't fostering a true sense of membership. UMPH needed a partner to help them rebuild the site from the ground up—a project that required migrating nearly 11,000 pieces of content, converting multiple legacy formats (including some from old CDs), and integrating with UMPH's unique "open account" commerce system. They were also specifically looking for a platform that would help them increase conversion rates, and understood that Tizra’s architecture allowed users to readily see the value of the content and to present compelling landing pages and CTAs. They ultimately chose Tizra for its powerful organizational tools, its capability to showcase content value, and its proven ability to handle complex, large-scale content challenges.

HOW TIZRA HELPS
Working in close collaboration, Tizra and UMPH embarked on a significant renovation of the Ministry Matters website. A key early success was migrating a massive library of over 10,000 articles and breathing new life into legacy content by converting it into modern, usable formats. The new platform offers the robust search and organizational capabilities that UMPH was seeking, enabling users to easily locate relevant content across the entire archive.

As the project unfolded, UMPH's strategic goals also evolved. To better serve their community, UMPH decided to leverage the project to create a dedicated space on the site where leaders could find resources to deepen and reaffirm their United Methodist identity. Tizra's flexible platform made it possible to quickly build out this new, mission-critical area, demonstrating a true partnership that could adapt to their evolving strategy.

The new site also moves beyond simple articles. With Tizra, Ministry Matters can now engage with various forms of content, such as podcasts, webinars, and videos, opening the door to a richer media experience. Tizra’s powerful tools for categorizing and curating collections provide users with a richer browsing experience, enabling the Ministry Matters team to be more strategic and responsive in presenting information.

By moving to Tizra, Ministry Matters has successfully transformed its digital presence. The partnership resulted in a dynamic platform that fosters deeper engagement, supports the Ministry Matters community through change, and is ready to grow with its audience for the next decade and beyond.
