Managing Designs in Tizra

Tizra includes powerful tools that enable you to control the design of your site, including page layouts, listing styles, graphics, colors and global elements such as the navigation and footer.  These tools are primarily located under the main PRESENTATION tab, but if you want to override the global design for a particular content item, you can do so via the Design Layouts linked to from the sidebar of that item's properties page. The instructions below provide a step-by-step recipe for saving design changes and applying them to the staging and live areas of your Tizra site.  Please note: The first two steps aren't always necessary. They are primarily for cases where you're not sure whether there is unsaved work in staging, either because others have been working there or it's been a while.  If you're confident that the design in staging is the one you want to be working on and saving, you can skip ahead to Step 3. 1) Make a backup copy of the Design currently on the Staging site This will prevent you from accidentally overwriting work that a previous user (or you) may have left in the staging area without saving. Steps... In the control panel, go to PRESENTATION > Library Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save As... In the dialog that pops up, give the Design a name (like "[date] staging backup") and click Save. 2) Apply the Design you want to work with to the Staging site Start at PRESENTATION > Library in the control panel. Pick the design you want to work with from the Tizra Templates or Your Designs lists.  If you want to use the Design that's currently live, look for the live label in the Date Saved column. Click the Apply button next to the design, and select staging in the dialog that pops up. 3) Make the desired changes and preview them Changes that you make within the PRESENTATION area will automatically be available for preview within the staging and testing areas (staging and testing are the same from a design perspective, but testing simulates production access control, whereas staging gives admin users access to everything) 4) Periodically save your work To avoid accidentally deleting or overwriting your work, it's a good idea to save snapshots periodically as you progress. You can do this either by clicking Save As... at the bottom of the PRESENTATION > Library page, or by clicking Save next to the appropriate design in the library. If you do the latter, the design will be saved under the name you've clicked next to, and the last saved version will be kept as a backup with a timestamp. In either case, the saved design will be a complete snapshot of all the work you've done within PRESENTATION (Except for the Images area).   5) When ready, apply to live Once you have saved your current design and tested it to your satisfaction in staging/testing, you can make it live by clicking Apply next to the saved design and selecting live.
