Creating Different Types of Hyperlinks in a PDF There are three types of hyperlinks you can create within a PDF: 1. Hyperlinks to websites. For example, if your PDF contains references to another website, you can create links to those website URLs. You can optionally open these links in a new web browser window/tab. 2. Hyperlinks to other pages within the same PDF. For example, if you wanted to create links on Index entries to the corresponding pages within the PDF. These are called INTRA-PDF hyperlinks. 3. Hyperlinks to files, such as Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, images, videos, even other PDFs. You create the hyperlinks in Adobe Acrobat to point to these files, and then you upload those files as Attachments into the same Tizra Document as the PDF. Note: It is possible to create links to pages of OTHER PDFs in your Tizra Publisher system. These are called INTER-PDF links. When you create these INTER-PDF links, you would create a link to a website URL, but you would use the URL for the published page of the Document that contains the PDF that you wish to link to. Keep in mind, IF THE PAGINATION OF YOUR PDFs CHANGES (you insert new pages in the PDF, etc.) and then upload that newly paginated PDF into a Tizra Document, THEN YOUR INTER-PDF LINKS WILL BE BROKEN. Therefore, Tizra recommends that you carefully consider whether or not to create these INTER-PDF links, as they can create maintenance issues for your organization.
